Luxemburg ist Tanz 

The festival "Luxemburg ist Tanz " takes place from October 24th till 28th and presents the contemporary dance scene of  Luxembourg in Berlin. The most prestigious Luxembourg dancers and choreographers show their new productions. Seven partner could be obtained for this exciting festival. The Theater an der Parkaue – Junges Staatstheater Berlin, the Staatsballet Berlin in collaboration with Tanz ist klasse, the Heimathafen, the DOCK 11, the Studio LaborGras, and the HALLE TANZBÜHNE BERLIN. 
 

Programm at Studio LaborGras

During the festival, "Luxemburg ist Tanz" the Studio LaborGras acts as a place of exchange and reflection. For five days, it offers three artists from Berlin and Luxembourg the opportunity to share their choreographic approaches  and interests with each other.

 

The three choreographers invites the public to participate on the development of their artistic exchange. So who ever would like to join the process, the Studio is open to do so, starting on Monday October 24th till Thursday October 27th always from 15:00 - 17:00 h.

 

At the conclusion of the five days spent together, the three artists will present the result of their artistic exchange and then show a piece or an excerpt of their own current work.

Anne-Mareike Hess

Anne-Mareike Hess is a dancer and choreographer born in Luxembourg. She started her education in dance and music at the Conservatory in Luxembourg and the TDM (today TROIS C-L). Than she moved to Germany to study dance at the HfMDK in Frankfurt/Main. In 2006 she finished her studies in Frankfurt and since she is working as a freelance dancer and choreographer. In addition to this Anne-Mareike just finished a two years Master of Arts in Choreography at the Hochschulübergreifendes Zentrum Tanz Berlin / Ernst Busch. As a dancer and performer Anne-Mareike Hess been working a.o. with William Forsythe ("Human Writes"), the Superhands and Miriam Horwitz ("Essay on the dead body", "Niinsky"). She has worked as an assistant for the luxembourgish choreographers Bernard Baumgarten and Gianfranco Celestino. Her own choreographies (Utopie-Try Out, remember, Insightinside) were performed in Luxembourg, France, Germany, England, Italy, Rumania, Croatia and Canada. In 2008 Anne-Mareike was part of the international exchange project "Dance Roads" and she was invited to the Festival "Repérages" in Lille (FR). Her latest production "Never-ending up north" was co-produced and premiered at TNL in Luxembourg. Since 2007 Anne-Mareike´s work is supported on a regular base by the luxembourgish Ministry of Culture and the TROIS C-L. Since 2007 Anne-Amreike is collaborating with the musician Marc Lohr. Marc Lohr

Marc Lohr (drums/electronics) grew up in Luxembourg where he studied jazz as well as classical music; he graduated from the royal conservatory in the Hague, Holland; after residing in Copenhagen he now lives in Berlin. he mostly plays music which is or includes improvisation; he writes music for instruments, electronic devices and moving people. www.marclohr.com

Gianfranco Celestino

Gianfranco Celestino
After he accomplished his classical piano studies at Conservatorio "G. Verdi" in Torino (I), Gianfranco Celestino studied dance at the "Folkwang Hochschule" in Essen (D). In 1999 he studies in Venice at "Accademia Isola Danza", directed by Carolyn Carlson. In the same year he receives the scholarship to take part to the "Dance WEB" programme at Wiener Tanz Wochen in Vienna. He has worked, between others, with Les Ballets C. de la B. (B), Unit.Control (L), ARAZZO Tanztheater (D). Since 2002 he lives in the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg and works on his own choreographic ideas.
His major work, Solo con Piano (2005) is a dance theatre solo programme in which he plays the piano and dances with it. The show has played, among other places, at the festival Les Répérages - Danse à Lille (F), at the International Theatre Festival of Sibiu, Romania, in Montréal (CND), Cardiff (UK), Ljubljana (SLO), at Ballet de Lorraine in Nancy (F), Milano (I), in Eupen (B), at the Southbank Centre, London (UK), Internationale Tanzmesse Nrw, Düsseldorf (D), in Vitebsk (BY). Coproduced by Kulturfabrik, Centre de Création Chorégraphique Luxembourgeois TROIS C-L, MASKéNADA. Crossing Town (2007) is a dance-theatre piece for five dancers. Using sarcasm and irony, the show deals with the relations between urban people, sharing a common space but often ignoring one another. Different ways of meeting and communicating with each other brings the personages to a situation of constant competition. Coproduced by MASKéNADA, Théâtre National du Luxembourg and TROIS C-L. Sweet Dreams (2009) is an interdisciplinary piece, aiming to portray the life and characteristics of Luxembourg's capital. Sweet Dreams! is keen to investigate the fabric of a city full of contrast and secrets, rich in legends and history but not without its critics and challenges, and to uncover the true identity of one of the most intriguing European capitals. Coproduced by MASKéNADA, TROIS C-L, Grand Théâtre de Luxembourg.

Lena Meierkord

Lena Soon-hee Meierkord, born 1976 in Korea, studied at P.A.R.T.S. in Brussels. She has worked with a.o. Karine Ponties’ Cie Dame de Pique, LOD / Laurence Malstaf and Dominique Pauwels, LaborGras, Cie Toula Limnaois, Laurie Young, Tamer Yigit and recently with Jo Fabian. She collaborated with other artists and was invited as artist in residence to Tanzhaus Wasserwerk in Zurich, fabrik Potsdam, Tanzfabrik Berlin, Festival des 7 collines St. Etienne, Künstlerhaus Ahrenshoop. Since 2007 he is also teaching for Tanzzeit Stralsund. Her work (making of) District was presented at Tanztage Berlin 2009, Dock11 Berlin, XtraFrei Festival Bremen, SIDance (Seoul International Dance Festival), IETM Berlin.
