Residence N°18 - Marcela Ruiz Quintero & Jennifer Ocampo Monsalve

Persona, is a dance performance about identity with the participation of two dancers, a visual artist and a musician. The two dancers have been inspired by the content and the aesthetics of Ingmar Bergman´s film Persona (1966), to delve into their own identities as  dancers, as persons, and as hybrid persons coming from a similar cultural background and merging into a new different culture.

After our first residence phase by Mouvoir/ Stephanie Thiersch company in Cologne, we will continue with our second residence phase at Studio laborgras in Berlin. In the second phase of our residence, we will pursue our research specifically on our identity as dancers. We will persist with the idea of confronting each other as mirrors of ourselves. Since we share very similar life journeys and histories, we will go on exploring this encounter with diverse tasks: through this, we will generate reflections and distortions to reveal how our own masks and our own personalities
can represent ´the other´, but by doing this, they can also blur and plot themselves out.
